Genital wart treatment is simple if you understand the virus that causes warts. There are over 80 strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV), of which 30 strains are associated with genital warts. It is an extremely common virus to have and many people are carriers of the virus, without actually having any visible warts. HPV has the ability to lay dormant in the body for many years. This is why it is extremely important to be tested for STD's , including HPV as often as possible, if you have multiple partners.
Genital wart treatment becomes necessary when warts are discovered around the anus, penis or vagina. Genital Warts appear as small growths, but may group together in clusters which have a cauliflower like look. They are not usually painful, but may cause some itchiness. They are usually soft to the touch and may be skin colored or whitish in color. These warts can be found in and around the anus, vagina, penis and may be internal. Sometimes, warts may be present inside the urethra, which can make it difficult to urinate. Genital wart treatment, however, is not a problem!
