If you have been diagnosed
with
HPV
or suspect that you may be a carrier of this condition,
you will be very keen to know what HPV treatment is
available. Although there is no cure or treatment for
the HPV itself, there are plenty of different options
available to you to treat the genital warts which in
some cases appear as a result of the HPV condition.
Therefore if there are genital warts present, you
will be able to make an informed decision on which
human papilloma virus treatment you would like to
undertake. Although in some cases, genital warts can
go away without treatment, others will multiply and
grow larger. You have no way of knowing which direction
the infection will take. Health professionals often
recommend applying medication to warts as the first
choice of warts treatment.
You can treat HPV genital warts in the comfort and
privacy of your own home using the following home
remedy for warts.
o A natural healing product made from essential oils
where the formula is used to treat HPV genital warts
by eliminating all strains of the wart
virus with no skin irritation and no scarring
by drawing the warts out of the skin. They then flake
away. This product is applied topically to the affected
area and available on the internet.
o Imiquimod (Aldara) is a treatment available on prescription
for home use and induces the body to produce proteins
that act against the HPV and boosts the immune system
locally.
o Podofilox lotion or gel (Condylox) is another treatment
available on prescription for home use which is applied
twice daily for 3 consecutive days for up to 4 weeks.
This product stops the growth of the wart cells.
Your health professional can apply the following
medications to treat HPV genital warts in his rooms:
o Podophyllin resin (Podofyn) which is a plant extract
that is applied every 1-2 weeks.
o Interferon is injected into the wart to help the
body’s immune system to fight the virus that
is causing the wart. The injections are carried out
twice a week for up to 8 weeks or until the warts
have gone.
o Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or bichloroacetic acid
(BCA) are a further medication which needs to be repeated
weekly until the warts have gone.
o Fluorouracil (Exude, Fluoroplex). This cream would
be applied weekly until the warts have gone.
These are more complicated procedures to get
rid of genital warts which would need to be carried
out by a health professional and some of them would
require an anesthetic:
o Cryotherapy involves putting very cold liquid nitrogen,
nitrous oxide or carbon dioxide directly onto the
warts. This freezes the wart tissue and destroys it.
Cryotherapy can be used to treat internal warts as
well as external ones.
o Laser treatment is used for vaporizing HPV genital
warts and is very precise and can be used to treat
those genital warts in difficult to reach areas.
o Electrocautery is where the genital wart tissue
is destroyed with heat from an electric current.
o Excision is where the genital warts are cut away
as a surgical procedure.
Your health professional will help and advise you
on the best way to treat human papilloma virus genital
warts. But you can do your part by researching the
different treatments listed above so that you are
informed and aware of the treatment which you feel
would best suit you.
