Firstly, there is no such disease like ‘vagina
herpes’. It is just that when the herpes disease
affects the vagina in a woman, the condition is referred
to as vagina herpes. And so, vaginal herpes is not
a disease, it is actually a condition. But what is
this herpes disease anyway? This is actually a sexually
transmitted disease or STD that passes on from one
person to another when they engage themselves in sexual
activity. It is caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus
of which there are 2 types – HSV 1 and HSV 2.
While HSV 1 causes oral herpes or the cold sore disease,
it is actually HSV 2 that is responsible for genital
herpes. However in rare cases, even HSV 1 can cause
the disease in the genital regions.
The condition of vaginal herpes is also referred
to as herpes vaginalis. And interestingly, though
both men and women can get the disease through sex,
it has still been seen that women tend to be infected
more than men. By as much as 4 to 1. And that is not
all. Among those who get infected with the virus,
it has been seen that in women the conditions become
more severe and there are more complications as well.
Though as to why this happens no one is quite sure
yet, but studies are underway to find this out, and
so we should have an answer soon.
Here is some more interesting fact about vagina herpes.
A woman can get infected with vagina herpes even when
her partner is not suffering from genital herpes,
but from oral herpes. And this happens when he performs
oral sex on her. A woman can also get vagina herpes
through anal sex. Some say that even masturbation
can lead to vagina herpes.
Until recently, there were limited options in terms
of curtailing both recurrence and the severity of
outbreaks. Now there are a number of natural treatments
for herpes on the market including H
- Prevention - which is proven to prevent the
recurrence of herpes outbreaks, and H
- Away, which contains anti-viral oils that are
clinically proven to eliminate
herpes blisters and heal the lesions.
The first symptoms are a itching and a tingling sensation
on the affected parts which may be the penis, the
anus, the vagina and even on the inside of the thigh.
And then the skin in the affected area becomes swollen
(there are usually red bumps) and it starts to pain
and is sore to the touch. After this, the area may
contain a clear fluid (within the blisters that get
formed from the red bumps) that may stay for quite
a few days. When all this happens in the vagina, the
condition is referred to as vagina herpes or herpes
vaginalis. The symptoms may also come with fatigue,
headache, and a twitching of the nerves.
Sometimes it may be very difficult for the man and
even the woman herself to spot the symptoms of vagina
herpes, and this is because there are no symptoms
at all. But this does not mean that the person is
not infected with the HSV virus.
The symptoms of vagina herpes are first noticed within
about 2 weeks from the time the disease is contracted
through sex, stays on for quite a few weeks before
starting to ebb. Vagina herpes in the vagina itself
or in the cervix (that is not on the inside of the
vagina) may lead to a sense of burning while urinating,
pain in the pelvic region and a discharge from the
vagina.
