Flat warts and cold sores may be confused by those
who really aren't up on all the diseases and virus
a person can get on their face. This article will
help to clear up some of those curiosities. Although
both cold sores and flat warts can be contracted from
people and both come from a certain viral infection
family they have very different looks. If the term
cold sore doesn't sound too familiar try fever blisters,
although fevers do not actually cause cold
sores the name may be attributed to a symptom
of genital herpes where fever symptoms show up before
the person realizes they have herpes.
Cold sores
Cold sores are something so many people get its all
too common and simply kissing or sharing a soda with
someone can lead to getting a cold sore. When a cold
sore is contracted if someone already has them they
are there for life. Cold sores are a viral infection
coming from the herpes simplex virus in this case
it would be called herpes simplex 2. Cold sores are
visually unpleasant for people to have as it is a
red blister just above the lip, it can't be hidden
and everyone knows what it is. Usually right before
a cold sore there will be a sensation on the lip where
it will soon appear, this may give some people time
to put something on the area in order to prevent it
from fully coming up.
Strangely enough which people may not know as it is relatively uncommon; people sometimes get cold sores on their fingers or nose. Ironically even though the cold sore is not on the face at the point of the knuckles it is still caused by herpes simplex 2. In most people getting herpes will take a month to actually show on the lips, it takes a while for the virus to show up which may mean the person infected has no idea who infected them unless that person has a cold sore still nearly a month later. Cold sores will cause minor pain, if broken or messed around with the cold sore may bleed or become bigger. Cold sores should only last about a week and heal without any marks.
Flat warts on the lips
Flat warts are small pointy warts which can appear anywhere on the body except the feet and genitals. On the face flat warts can appear very small and on the lips a lot bigger. Flat warts will literally appear on the soft skin of the lip, not above on the side or below the lip. Cutting open the lip may result in the spread of flat warts. Children seem to me a lot more affected by flat warts than adults do, this may be due to the immune system not being as strong to fight off this condition. Flat warts cannot be spread just by touching or everyone who touched their own face would spread them. The warts come in different colors including pink, yellow and white or brown. Flat warts can be very annoying to have as they appear directly on the lips. As all wart viral infections flat warts need to be removed and will not go away without treatment of some kind.
