So What Is A Good Balanced Diet That You Can Enjoy Too? | Amoils.com

celery on the white plate Oh dear!  Another chain email appeared on my computer screen today but it was a good one with illustrations of different foods and some very interesting observations on these natural foods which you can enjoy.

For example

A sliced carrot resembles the human eye and carrots are good for eyes as they greatly enhance blood flow to, and function of, the eyes.  Remember the old wife’s tale that eating carrots helped you see in the dark! Tomatoes and the heart have four chambers and are red.  Tomatoes contain lycophine which is pure heart and blood food. Grapes hang in a cluster like the shape of a heart and are heart and blood vitalizing food. Walnuts look like a little brain with a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums while the wrinkles on the outside of the walnut are just like the neo-cortex.  Walnuts help develop more than 36 neuron-transmitters for brain function. Celery, bok choy, and rhubarb resemble bones and are good for bone strength, replenishing the skeletal needs of the body. Avocados, egg plant and pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female and they look just like these organs too!  Research shows that eating one avocado a week balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancer - so a very important food source for women. Olives are also good for women as they assist the health and function of the ovaries. Oranges, grapefruits and other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female while assisting the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts. Figs are especially good for men.  Ironically, they hang in twos when they grow and are full of seeds. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and their numbers, and can even overcome male sterility. Sweet potatoes look like the pancreas and help diabetics by balancing the glycemic index. Onions mirror our body’s cells and help clear waste materials from all of those body cells.  By making us produce tears, onions wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. There are plenty of choices to be made from above for those 8 vegetable and/or fruit helpings that we need every day.

And most of them look and taste good too!

When I read this, I got to thinking about food in general and although I know you have heard it many times before, it never hurts to remember that:

There are 5 main food groups

Grain – covering cereal, rice, pasta and bread and providing carbohydrates and the main source of energy and fiber.  Choose the brown versions for maximum benefit and eat between 6 and 11 servings per day but remembering that today, many people need to go gluten-free with this food group. Fruit and vegetables – such an important food group and you should eat at least 3 portions of fruit and 5 servings of vegetables every day.  Choose as many different colors from this group to give you fiber, vitamins and minerals.  Fruit and vegetables make the best kind of snack for between meals. Meat, fish and alternatives – these give us our main source of protein, irons and zinc.  Eat as many different types as possible but avoid any processed meats.  The group includes poultry, fish, meat, dry beans, eggs and nuts.  We need 2 to 3 servings per day. Milk and dairy products – their main contribution is a source of calcium in our diet.  Raw dairy is best from cows who are grass fed and rather than too much milk which causes allergies in many, stick to butter and hard cheese. Fats and sugars – while fats are a very important part of our healthy diet particularly such as olive oil, grass fed butter, coconut oil and others, sugars (fructose) are the complete opposite and very detrimental to our health.  We should be limiting our total daily sugar intake to an absolute maximum of 6 teaspoons per day from every source. There are so many conditions that will immediately improve when you eat healthily such as acne, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, headaches and migraines, cellulite and many more.

The 5 important foods

There are 5 really special foods that you should include in your diet every week and even better, daily and they are: tomatoes, spinach, nuts, olive oil and garlic. If you follow a healthy diet, it is important for it to taste good too and you should be able to give yourself a treat from time to time without feeling guilty and so that you don’t feel too deprived!  It is all a question of habit – you can get into good habits just as easily as you get into bad habits. It is said that a habit is formed if done continuously for 30 days.
