Are you looking for a way to get rid of that annoying cellulite?
Yoga could be your solution
Atma JoAnn Levitt, who is head of the integrative weight-loss program at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts, sums it all up when she says: “Besides whipping your leg muscles into sexy shape, yoga can help smooth spongy thighs too.
" She goes on to say that cellulite is a symptom of reduced lymph circulation, and yoga helps lymph flow more freely through fatty areas, flushing toxins and reducing cellulite. She recommends the two following yoga moves to help reduce cellulite by moving lymph along.
Here is the first one called “Shoulder Stand"
Lie on your back with your arms by your side. Bend your knees and rock your legs up, bringing your knees to your forehead and placing your hands under your hips to support them. Keeping your elbows on the floor, hold for 8 to 10 breaths. Then slowly release your knees and roll gently back onto the floor. It is best and safer to learn this pose from a teacher before attempting it on your own. Once you have learnt it, practice it once every other day.
The second one is called “Plow Pose"
Begin in half shoulder stand. Now straighten your legs, extending them back out over your head, and rest your toes on the floor. Straighten your arms on the floor, palms down. Hold for 8 to 10 breaths, before bending your knees back to your forehead and lowering your body down onto the floor.

Deep breathing and stimulation of the lymphatic system, through yoga, helps reduce cellulite
. It is the blockage of the lymphatic system in the first place that can cause cellulite. Fat and toxins become trapped. You have to get that lymph flowing again. Lymph is the bodily fluid that carried white blood cells to the lymph notes to fight germs. A very vital function.
The appearance of cellulite
is easy to spot with its orange peel, puckered appearance of the skin. It is usually found on those areas where fat gathers – namely the thighs, buttocks and abdomen. While you cannot help the genetics factor, you do have a choice with other causes such as lifestyle, diet, exercise and stress levels. Many people are unaware of how much effort you put into using your muscles in yoga. They still tend to think of yoga as a series of gentle movements where you just hang out and stretch. In yoga, you are actively using your muscles while your feet, quads and hamstrings grow strong in standing poses. Your core muscles are used to such an extent that probably no other form of exercise can help you develop a strong spine like yoga does. Apart from those two yoga poses described earlier, there are other poses that strengthen the thighs and buttocks while engaging and stretching the muscles to improve muscle tone: crescent lunge; triangle; warrior 111; eagle; chair
and standing forward bend
are their names. Increasing muscle tone is important because at the same time it will reduce those fat deposits that cause cellulite in the first place.
How to get started
If you are interested in starting yoga, the very best way is to attend a class. There is nearly always one in your area, no matter where you live. If you start properly from the beginning, you will learn correct alignment as well as all the movements. I am sure you will find it stimulating and enjoyable too. And the cherry on the top? Why cellulite reduction of course!
