Essential Oils and More for Beautiful Hair
Our ideal is to have is to have shiny, healthy hair with no look and feel of dry or damaged hair.
The good news is that there are some essential oils that can help to naturally condition and nourish the hair and these include Lavender Essential Oil.
How to naturally give your hair a healthy-looking glow
- Gently massage ten drops of Rosemary Essential Oil and five drops of Lavender Essential Oil into different areas of your scalp for two minutes.
- Put a hot towel around your head and sit for twenty minutes.
- Finally, wash hair with natural homemade shampoo.
How to make your own natural shampoo:
You will need:
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup castile vegetable-based liquid soap such as Dr Bronner’s
- 1 teaspoon light olive oil (omit if you have oily hair)
- A few drops of Lavender Essential Oil
Combine ingredients, mix well and put in a recycled shampoo bottle. Use a palm-full of the shampoo or less to lather once, and then rinse with warm water.
This homemade shampoo is thinner than commercial shampoo and it won’t suds up as much — but it will eliminate oil and grime just as well as a regular commercial shampoo.
For a naturally scented shampoo, opt for a scented castile soap, or substitute ½ cup strong herbal tea (such as chamomile, lavender or rosemary) for water in the basic shampoo recipe above.
How to make homemade apple cider vinegar shampoo
You will need a box of baking soda and some apple cider vinegar. Please note that although the mixture works well, it can take a while for your hair to adjust to this different type of shampoo – for example, it might be oily to start with.
- Place a few tablespoons of baking soda in the bottom of a repurposed squeeze bottle, top with hot water, and shake it well.
- You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance.
- After it settles for a few minutes, apply ¼ cup to wet hair, work it through with fingers before rinsing for a clean and shiny result.
- Then follow with a basic rinse recipe by mixing ½ cup of apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice with two cups water.
- Pour it through your wet hair and rinse with cool water.
How to make egg yolk hair conditioner:
You will need:
- 1 egg yolk
- ½ teaspoon olive oil
- ¾ cup warm water
Prepare before you wash your hair by beating the egg yolk until frothy, adding the oil and beating again, and then slowly adding the water while still beating. Pour the mixture through wet hair, working it in with your fingers. Allow it to set for a few minutes then rinse it out with warm water.
How to use a deep conditioner using all or one of these ingredients:
For dry or damaged hair, using a deep conditioner once a week can make a huge difference.
You can apply any of the following in combination or alone:
- Olive oil
- Coconut oil
- Beaten egg
- Yogurt
- Mashed banana
- Mashed avocado.
Work into wet hair before wrapping up your hair turban style in an old towel for twenty minutes and then rinse well.
Our own Simply Hair Oil will keep on nourishing your hair, naturally
This hair formula includes the well-known Moroccan Argan Oil to make hair softer, silkier and shinier - as well as taming any frizz. Some of the other ingredients (such as Rosemary) have been used for hair care by the people of the Mediterranean countries for centuries.
- Apply a small amount to the palm of your hand. Then with your fingers, work the oil evenly through the damp or dry hair.
- Once you have completed styling, you can apply more to intensify shine and to eliminate frizz.
- Another suggestion is to use Simply Hair Oil before flat ironing for a sleek and finished look.
- A further suggestion is to apply before shampooing for extra conditioning. You can even leave overnight to do its work before washing your hair in the morning.
Simply Hair Oil is 100% natural, safe and gentle, working to nourish and hydrate your hair as well as improve texture and shine.
