What are Warts?
by Jane ChittyWhat are warts?
Warts are skin growths and can appear anywhere on the body but are most commonly found on the hands and feet.
Warts can be rough or smooth, flat or raised - and have a variety of shapes.
They are usually painless and harmless but can be itchy or painful depending on their location.
When can warts cause pain and discomfort?
It is the plantar wart appearing on the underside of the feet that can cause considerable pain and discomfort. Although the strains that cause plantar warts are not easily transmitted by direct contact from one person to another, they do thrive in warm, moist environments — such as shower floors, locker rooms, and public swimming areas. So it is always safer not to walk barefoot in such places.
The wart agent enters the body through tiny cuts, breaks, or other weak spots on the bottom of the foot, forming round areas of rough skin with a dry crusty surface and tiny black dots deep inside but, as they grow, they can become very painful as pressure is applied. It does not take long for a plantar wart to become flattened and painful from the pressure of walking - like walking on a small stone.
What are different types of warts?
Apart from the plantar warts described above, here is more about the other types of warts. Each type has a different appearance. Each type can appear on other parts of the body.
Common warts are most likely to appear on the hands. They have a rough, dome-shaped appearance and are gray-brown in color.
Flat warts can grow on the face, arms and legs. They’re small with flat tops. They are usually light yellow, brown or pink in color.
Filiform warts can grow on the face - usually around the mouth, nose or chin. They are the same color as the skin, with long and thin thread-like growths protruding from them. Due to their location, natural non-scarring options are preferred treatments in the case of filiform warts.
Periungual warts are warts that appear around the nails. They can sometimes cause pain and discomfort and make it difficult to trim the nails. Periungual warts are more common in people with weakened immune systems or who have had repeated trauma to the nails.
The good news is that warts will disappear in many cases without any treatment. However, others will be more stubborn and hang in there for months or even years.
What can be done to prevent and tackle the problem of warts?
We share some tips on how to avoid getting warts in the first place as well as information on a natural wart removal alternative:
- Boost your immune system. Good quality sleep is essential. Concentrate on boosting your body’s ability to fight them. Warts often appear when you are not 100%. Look for other ways to boost your immune system.
- Stop the spread. Warts can spread from person to person and around your body through touch. For example, if you touch your wart and then touch another part of your body before washing your hands, you may spread warts - and notice new warts appearing just days later.
- Improve Hygiene. This may be the most obvious but keep the affected area clean and dry to prevent the spread!
- Sharing is not caring. In the case of skin conditions, we don't want to share personal items. Avoid sharing towels, razors, or other personal items with others, as this can spread the agent that causes warts.
Of course, one of the easiest ways to tackle warts naturally is with this 100% natural product, made of the highest quality essential oil and homeopathic ingredients, H-Warts Formula is gentle on the skin and simple to apply.
Apply the product directly to your warts using a cotton swab. As the product is concentrated, only a few drops are needed for each application making it very economical to use.
H-Warts Formula begins to work quickly! The process does vary based on the size and number of warts. The warts may change in color, size and/or appearance and begin to flake away. You can expect to see results in a week or two although some stubborn warts may take a little longer.
